Uncertain Forests
Uncertain Forests was as a long and step by step project started in Banff . The method I used was like being a renaissance sculptor. Looking and observing nature, creating and investigating hands on. My idea was to do an artificial forest. I was given 9 trees that had fallen in Banff National Park. The first step was to explore the structure and expose the un-grown branches. Then do a resin halo. The installation also had a sound component, recording the movements and sounds in the forest and then doing a musical composition…This installation was presented at the Banff Center of the Arts with the name “artificial forest”.
2 years later, in Vancouver, and when the trees were very dry I did another layer of resin (different color) leaving the first yellow resin that enveloped the tree as an internal halo.
This show was presented at Bjorson Kajiwara gallery in 2005 under the name : ‘uncertain forests’.
